TOWNSHEND — Ahead of budget season and a report coming to the Legislature on education funding, the West River Education District Board will be presenting a plan to close elementary schools in Jamaica and Townshend next year.

The proposal discussed at the Monday board meeting would put pre-K-5 classes in NewBrook Elementary and could save the district $1 million or more a year.
