HINSDALE, N.H. — After more than three decades working with children, Patty Wallace never expected to be singled out. So when she learned she had been named New Hampshire’s Special Educator of the Year, her first reaction was disbelief — followed quickly by gratitude.

"It’s quite an honor," Wallace said.
