BRATTLEBORO —  Windham County judge on Friday granted Lavadus Williams Jr.’s request to dismiss his court‑appointed attorney, a decision that will delay the upcoming April trial in the June 2024 stabbing death of 25‑year‑old Aaron Colburn outside the Brattleboro Transportation Center.

Judge Michael Kainen approved the withdrawal of defense lawyer David Sleigh after confirming that Williams wanted to end the representation despite being warned of the consequences.
