NEWFANE — Todd Lawley is planning to retire as chief at NewBrook Fire & Rescue, which he considers his "second family."
"I have a lot of good friends here," Lawley said. "A lot of people mentored me."
Lawley called the camaraderie at the volunteer department "unbelievable."
In a social media post last week by NewBrook Fire & Rescue Secretary Alex Beattie, the department announced Lawley was voted into his 40th year and last serving as the fire chief.
