BROOKLINE — Following a heart transplant 40 years ago, Michael Winot was given another lease on life.
"Don't give up" is his motto, his mother Eloise said. The phrase was included in a Rutland Herald article about his transplant four decades ago.
On the day of the procedure, Sept. 25, 1985, Winot was 18 years old.
