State Treasurer Mike Pieciak presents Vermont News & Media publisher Jordan Brechenser with a check for unclaimed property.
BRATTLEBORO — State Treasurer Mike Pieciak came to town bearing gifts.
On Tuesday, Pieciak returned more than $40,000 of unclaimed property to local businesses and nonprofits. The list included the Brattleboro Retreat, Brattleboro Memorial Hospital and the Reformer.
Pieciak said the newspaper isn't unique.
"There's a lot of media outlets in Vermont that have unclaimed property," he said.
