To the Editor: Vermont Public misreported the Marlboro and Readsboro school closure story on March 5, 2026. It neglected to report that parents in Marlboro and Readsboro also have the option to choose alternate approved independent (private) schools for their children once the closure takes effect. The vote converts these towns into a tuition town under Vermont’s long-standing town tuitioning system (in place since 1869).
